Ambience Concept to produce TV Drama Series with CCTV China

The Omnilab Groups production arm, Ambience Entertainment today announced a production partner deal to produce a drama series for Chinas number one broadcaster CCTV.

Financed by CCTV, the 20 part drama series titled Wait for me in Sydney will be shot on location in Shanghai and Sydney with a cast of Chinese and Australian actors.

The modern urban style drama follows the story of a young Chinese woman who arrives in Sydney to study, having made a secret pact with her Australian-based Chinese boyfriend to Wait for me in Sydney.

Wait for me in Sydneys Executive Producer, Ambience Entertainment's Michael Boughen and The Omnilab Groups Executive Producer and Director of Strategy and Communications for China and Korea, Mr George Yang, will work with acclaimed Chinese television drama Director, Zhu Yi. Mr Yis impressive credits include the award winning Shanghai History, as well as the Chinese Sex in the City style drama Pink Lady, both screened on CCTV.

With a potential Chinese audience of 900 million people, this production is a real coup for the Australian industry, and as I believe, an Australian first! Not only will it showcase the fantastic locations Sydney has on offer, but also highlight the talented and experienced cast and crew available in Australia as well. said director, Zhu Yi.

Wait for me in Sydney is set to be an exciting challenge for the local crews as the dialogue will be in both Mandarin and English.

We plan for Wait for me in Sydney to be a cross-cultural milestone for our industry with the Chinese actors speaking in Mandarin and the Australian actors using English; to be subtitled in Mandarin for Chinese broadcast.. Luckily, Mr Yi the director, speaks both languages fluently said Michael Boughen, Executive Producer, Ambience Entertainment

Ambience Entertainment will have distribution rights for the program in Australia and New Zealand.

I am extremely fortunate to be working with George Yang, who has strong relationships with CCTV and the local Chinese community in Australia and has facilitated a smooth preparation. We start preliminary shooting in Shanghai from 17th June with principal shooting starting in Sydney on the 15th July said Boughen
