Eric Schaechter Joins The Lab Sydney

The Lab Sydney, market leader in post production for film and television projects, today announced details of their further expansion plans with the appointment of another key senior staff member.

Adding to the international flavour at the Lab is Eric Schaechter who, as new Senior Compositor, makes up the fourth member of the compositing team at the LaB. Schaechter joins having moved from Germany where he was most recently working as senior Flame artist for Deli Pictures Postproduction responsible mainly for compositing and VFX supervision for TVCs and longform. Schaechters previous international experience also saw him as senior Flame and Shake artist at Virgin Television Studios/Rushes Mexico City and senior Inferno artist at ABT in Istanbul.

The Lab Sydneys Post Production Manager Phil Watts said, We have been looking for a senior compositor to further add creative depth to our very experienced team and Eric fitted the bill perfectly. Erics reel has a very distinct design feel to it and exhibits a broad range of composting skills. He has excellent European creative flair and his energy is a great fit with the team here. In addition to his extensive TVC work for brands including Audi, SwissCom and Nivea, Eric has also worked on numerous feature films including Spy Kids 2 and Spy Kids 3D.

Schaechter said, the Lab is an excellent organization and one of the only ones I would have considered moving from Germany to join. It has a great creative culture, excellent 3D infrastructure and many exciting future opportunities. I specialise in action compositing that looks real but in fact has very clever effects and only certain organizations can really make this work and look good, the LaB is definitely one of these. I have seen some excellent work here at the Lab and am looking forward to realising the vision they have to expand their offerings in both TVC and feature projects.

The new Lab reel which includes work showcasing Schaechter is out in October.
