AMBIENCE ENTERTAINMENT & CCI ENTERTAINMENT PRODUCES ERKY PERKY - AUSTRALIA'S NEW 3D ANIMATED CHILDREN'S TELEVISION SERIES

LAUNCHES 9TH OF OCTOBER AT 9.30AM ON CHANNEL SEVEN

OCTOBER 2006, tune into Channel Seven, for the world premiere of ERKY PERKY, a co-production between Ambience Entertainment, part of the Omnilab Media Group, and CCI Entertainment with animation by the LaB Sydney. ERKY PERKY is unique in that it is an official Australian/Canadian co-production where the animation has been undertaken in Australia.

Advantageous tax incentives in Canada usually dictate that for co-productions, between our countries, the animation is produced in Canada. In this respect, ERKY PERKY is unique as Ambience Entertainment has retained creative control throughout the project, producing the storylines and animation locally, says Michael Boughen, Executive Producer, Ambience Entertainment.

ERKY PERKY works on so many different levels but targeted to children aged between 8 - 12 years of age and features the adventures of two humorous, bickering and very lovable bugs, Erky and Perky. Erky and Perky are living an idyllic life on a down town hot dog stand when by accident (and due to Erkys sheer greed) they are rudely thrust into a take-away hot dog bag. After a frightening journey they end up in a sterile suburban kitchen with NO FOOD IN SIGHT. ERKY PERKY features a great cast of characters with a range of hilarious personalities including Mad Margaret, Sajuica, Frenzel, Stinks and Moldy Van Oldy. Watch the adventures unfold each and every day as Erky and Perky try to find a way back to hot dog stand.

This concept and the Erky Perky characters are so much fun to work with. Im so happy with the stories and humour we have created, the design of the environment, the animation style and the finished look we have achieved. I think the audience will see it as something original, refreshing and new. Whats really apparent is the strength of each of the characters which has come about as a result of the time we have put into their development.

There is an enormous team to thank for this result, both Australian and Canadian. From the original David Gurney designs, the talented Canadian voice actors and scriptwriters, added to the level of laughs in the series; the script editor Simon Hopkinson, Series Creative Producer Avrill Stark, the directing team which included Murray Debus and Robert Smith and the whole team at the LaB sydney. Everyone at every stage has made a significant contribution and added to the level of laughs in the series.

ERKY PERKY is a co-production with CCI Entertainment and will be seen on screens in Australia (Channel Seven) and Canada (YTV).

Channel Seven has committed to 13 x 12 min episodes. The first five episodes premiere on the 9th to the 13th of October (Monday to Friday) at 9:30am on Channel Seven. Further episodes are scheduled to run 25th  29th of December.

ERKY PERKY series 2 has been commissioned by Channel Seven and is now in pre-production. Other anime titles produced by Ambience Entertainment include POP PUPS, a joint venture with A Stark Production, screened on the ABC, and a new 3D television series currently in development with ILOURA (DP), also part of the Omnilab Media Group.
