Larry the Lawnmower in production at Ambience Entertainment

Ambience Entertainment - already a prolific producer of quality childrens entertainment with their programs Erky Perky, Go Go Stop and the Pop Pups - is in production on a new childrens property, Larry the Lawnmower.

Larry the Lawnmower (65 x ? hours) will be broadcast on the Seven Network in Australia and is a unique live action pre-school series that uses five colourful and friendly puppets based on everyday garden tools.

The adorable characters include Larry the Lawnmower, a bright red lawnmower whos fast, friendly and great at solving problems. Joining Larry are Wheelie, the big blue wheelbarrow; Flash, the hard working yellow spade; Rosie, the fussy and cautious rake and Tangles the green nervous garden hose.

Larry the Lawnmower and his friends live in Greenwood Gardens, a hyper-real magical place where our characters work, play and often get up to mischief as they have fun adventures and make great discoveries as they learn about life, the environment, team work and friendship.

Its been really rewarding developing such accessible characters, storylines and music for our five delightful puppets. A sense of belonging is such an intrinsic human desire and when you can create a show for children that explores such strong community values it is quite refreshing, said Executive Producer Michael Boughen.

Ambience has co-developed the series with the Seven Network , We were introduced to Larry a year ago and fell in love with him and his friends and we have enjoyed working with Michael and his team to bring the series to life. We look forward to sharing Larry with our preschool audience very soon, said Janeen Faithfull, Head of Network Production at the Seven Network.

Ambience Entertainment has called upon well-known childrens entertainer Jay Lagaaia to narrate the series. Jays presenting credits are varied and numerous including Surprise Surprise, Star Struck, National Geographic Presents and of course, Play School, on the ABC.
Already a familiar voice to children, Jay wrote and recorded a childrens album Come Dance and Sing, released through ABC music in 2007. He also wrote and performed in his own show, Jays Place, to sell out audiences at the Sydney Theatre Company.

Ambience Entertainment is partnering with Tony Bugg of Bugg Marketing Solutions to co-ordinate a merchandising and marketing rollout for the series. Bugg will advise and oversee all ancillary aspects of the programme with a particular focus on merchandising.

I look forward to taking Larry and his friends to MIPCOM this year; I will have completed episodes for the market to view and really feel there is a place for Larry and his friends in the international marketplace, said Boughen.
