The Messenger stars Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster – two US Army officers who return home from a tour in Iraq and are assigned to the Army's Casuality Notification Service, tasked with delivering the tragic news to the families of fallen soldiers. One solider finds himself drawn to a woman, whom he has just delivered the news of her husband’s death. The film reveals itself as a surprising, humourous and very human portrait of grief, friendship and survival.

It was nominated in the Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Woody Harrelson) and Best Original Screenplay (Alessandro Camon and Oren Moverman) categories at the 2010 Academy Awards.
